Write For Us

Pet Matters is a modern pet media platform backed by veterinary expertise. We exist to cut through the noise and focus on what actually matters in pet care.  That means real experiences, practical advice, and evidence-based insights that help people make better decisions for their animals.

We are always looking for thoughtful contributors who have something genuine to share. So if you have a story, insight, or experience that could help another pet owner, we would love to hear from you.

What you can write about

Your story doesn’t need to be dramatic or unusual to be valuable. In fact, simple, honest experiences are often the most helpful.

We welcome stories about all types of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, birds, and small pets.

For example, you might want to share:

  • A health issue you worked through
  • Feeding or nutrition changes that made a difference
  • Behaviour challenges and what you learned
  • Raising young animals or caring for older pets
  • Mistakes you made and what you would do differently
  • Everyday routines or approaches that actually work

We also welcome more personal stories, for instance:

  • How you coped with the loss of a pet
  • Decisions around end-of-life care
  • What helped you through that time, and what you wish you’d known

If it’s something you’ve lived through and learned from, it’s likely worth sharing. Some of the most valuable stories come from the hardest moments.

What we are looking for

We are looking for content that is:

  • Real
  • Practical
  • Honest
  • Useful

In general, strong submissions include:

  • Personal experiences with your pet
  • Lessons learned through challenges or setbacks
  • Behaviour, training, or health journeys
  • Stories that offer insight, not just entertainment

Above all, we value clarity over perfection. The best pieces feel real, not polished.

What Makes a Strong Submission

Strong submissions usually:

  • Focus on one clear idea or experience
  • Offer a takeaway or a lesson
  • Are easy to read and well structured
  • Feel authentic and not overly “written”

If your story helps someone else avoid a mistake or feel less alone, it’s likely a good fit.

What we are not looking for

To keep quality high, we do not accept:

  • Promotional or brand-driven content (please refer to our advertising guidelines)
  • Generic or AI-generated articles
  • Rewritten or duplicated content
  • Highly technical or clinical articles without lived experience
  • Content published elsewhere
Submission Guidelines
  • 800 to 1,500 words
  • Original content only
  • Clear headings and simple structure
  • 2 to 4 images (you must own the rights)
  • A short author bio (50 to 100 words)

Keep formatting simple. We will take care of the final layout and styling.

Editorial Process

Our editorial team reviews all submissions.

We may edit your piece for clarity, readability, and consistency with our style. However, we always aim to preserve your voice.

If your piece includes health-related advice, it will be reviewed by a veterinarian to ensure accuracy.

We will always aim to preserve your voice.
